Attain and maintain ideal body weight by doing regular exercise and controlling food intake (cut down on total fat intake. Cut down on saturated fat ingestion (mostly found in animal products). Increase your fibre intake (eat more whole wheat and fresh fruit and vegetables rather than refined products). Use salt and salty foods in moderation. Use less sugar and sugar-containing foods if you have elevated triglyceride levels. Limit the intake of fried foods; rather steam, boil, bake, stew or microwave. Have small regular meals with snacks (planned by your dietician). Use alcohol in moderation; not more than 2 drinks per day. |
